‘Celery’ Makes E-mail Simpler to Digest
Published Apr 15, 2007
In today’s technology-driven world, life without a computer is hard to imagine. Yet some – often seniors – miss out on features such as e-mailing friends and family because they fear the unknown.
Andrew Gibson, CEO of Celery, LLC has a simple solution that allows everyone to be included.
“We’ve created an e-mail product for people who didn’t want the cost or complexity of a computer,” he says. “We wrote a very sophisticated software package to make the process amazingly simple.”
Gibson says the beauty of Celery® is that it doesn’t even require the end user to purchase broadband services or a second phone line.
“We married the e-mail world, the fax world and the phone world,” he explains of the company’s base unit that turns a color fax machine into an e-mail hub.
A computer user simply sends an e-mail to the “mycelery.com” client as normal. On the Celery end, the fax machine rings. When the user picks up, there is a message that an e-mail will be coming through shortly. Then, the unit takes over to print out messages and photos. Replying is as simple as handwriting a response and sending it back through the unit.
In addition to ease, Gibson says another benefit is price. For just a few dollars a month, anyone can stay in touch.
