Downtown on Upswing in Schenectady

Downtown Schenectady is a frequent destination of the more than 150,000 people who live in Schenectady County.
A survey by the Sienna College Research Institute found nearly four in five county residents have visited downtown over the last year. 
Leading the way in the survey as reasons for visiting downtown were attending arts events (76 percent), going to entertainment venues (68 percent) and conducting business (45 percent).
The survey, sponsored by the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority, found that more than 80 percent of respondents had a more favorable impression of downtown than they did several years earlier.
