Tech Valley Website Showcases Region’s Offerings
Published Apr 15, 2008

It’s easy to gain insight into New York’s Tech Valley. After all, comprehensive regional information is just a mouse click away.

Launched in December 2005, the concept for the www.techvalley.org portal came out of a volunteer task force.

“The idea was to develop a Web site that would represent the region and everything we have to offer,” explains Trevor Sparks, who oversees the portal.

The site puts useful data at visitors’ fingertips. Everything from information on cost of living to workforce statistics are found under one of the three main headings – Live … Work … Play.

Sparks says the number of visitors has almost doubled since the launch, with about 8,000 hits a month. The site sees a good mix of those searching for career opportunities, visitors seeking leisure activities, and both businesses and individuals considering relocating to the region.

The interactive portal also puts site visitors in touch with the right resources. Sparks goes through the online contact forms daily and forwards the call information to the appropriate regional contact for personal follow up.

Information, which is continually updated, comes from all 24 Chamber Coalition partners.

“We’re constantly updating it,” Sparks says. “We hope to give people a snapshot of what we are all about.”
