Amsterdam Castle Featured in Films
Published Apr 15, 2008

Ever attend a party in a Victorian castle? Now you can, in Montgomery County.
The Amsterdam Castle was long known as the Amsterdam Armory, but the building formerly occupied by the National Guard was sold at auction in the mid 1990s. Today, the huge building – with 50 rooms, a 10-car garage and four towers – is privately owned and can be rented for special occasions.
The 36,000-square-foot castle can be booked for weddings, receptions and corporate functions, plus it can accommodate up to 1,200 people for concert-type settings. It can seat up to 566 people for banquets.
Amsterdam Castle has also been featured on recent TV shows as well as films, including the movies God’s Good Pleasure and American General. The castle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
